Designing Futures was established in 2021 as an avenue for
individuals and industry to be a part of supporting
marginalised people moving into secure social housing
within Sydney.
We are a grassroots not-for-profit charity who partner with localised social services to provide their clients with access to furniture and household items.
We primarily work with services supporting people impacted by domestic violence, homelessness and the criminal justice system.
We connect both individuals and those primarily working in the interior, design, and furniture industries to offer an opportunity to give back to the most
socially and economically marginalised communities by offering much needed and valued resources, volunteering their time or raising funds.

Social services don’t have enough resources to collect unwanted items before they are disposed on curb-sides. Designing Futures hopes to start solving this issue by providing transport collections and storage facilities, ensuring furniture donations are sourced quickly and held safely until its social service partners can deliver items to their new owners.
The charity is founded by three women including acclaimed interior designer Yasmine Ghoniem of YSG Studio, Drew Henderson, a qualified social worker who supports young people in the criminal justice system, and Maffy Kelly, founder and director of CHARETTE, the communications agency representing interior and design businesses.
